And boy, do I mean a RIDE! This is us altogether before we ventured 8 miles down the New River. The water was the lowest it has ever been on a "Shady Shack" excursion and it took us about 5 hours! It was hard work (our arms and backs are aching), but it was fun as usual! We even saw several crawfish and (gulp) a snake! We also saw a family, getting ready for a river-side wedding! It's always something new and exciting-always an adventure!
We missed those of you who could not make it:( It was weird not having you there Brett! But alas, you are on your honeymoon, so we forgive you:) Patty and Katie's dog (what is wrong with me, I cannot remember her name?) would have loved playing with Otis!

Look at this face! And those socks:)
He was a JOY to have around this year-I think Quinn might be begging Mitch for a puppy! Although, I am not sure Tuck or Monk would agree so much:)
All in all, we had 9 arrive Thursday: (Mitch, Natalie, Chad, myself, David, Jocelyn, TJ , Amy and Shan). We played Catch-Phrase around the campfire! This was Jocelyn and Amy's first years as well-and I think they took my craziness well in stride:)
Friday morning, we all trekked to Mitch's parent's house, where he grew up. What a beautiful house and what stories could be told! (Snakes, guns, chickens........) Then, we headed to Wal-Mart (yes, you read that right) and got necessities: rafts, cooler, mattress for Chad and a tent for Shan. Amy and I searched for Mad-Libs, but never found them (do they make them anymore?)
Friday afternoon was spent hanging around, drinking (what else?) and tubing down the river.
Then, four more arrived: (Daniel, Jennifer, Owen and Ro).
Saturday, we packed up sandwiches, loaded the coolers up and headed to the rental place to pick up our canoes. Five hours later, somewhat sunburned and sore, we returned for more campfire tales, smores, drinks and grilling.
Sunday morning, as the song says, we had to pack up and head back to the real world again. It's sad, but as the song also says.......we're already planning for next year.
As soon as I upload everything to a Kodak gallery, I will send you out the link~
Enjoyed it guys, really! It's a great way to end the summer..............now we just need a way to kick it off! Beach trip in May anyone???????????
